The Villages, FL — A 66-year-old woman from Lakeside Landings was arrested Tuesday evening on a theft charge at the Walmart located in Buffalo Ridge Plaza.

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Georgette Marie Pyle went through the self-checkout lane around 7 p.m. and was observed placing a container of butter and a box of coffee pods into bags without scanning them. She also allegedly scanned barcodes from less expensive merchandise instead of properly scanning two sets of pajama pants.

The total value of merchandise she allegedly failed to pay for amounted to $47.27. A background check revealed that Pyle has a history of theft, with prior convictions in 2013, 2016, and 2018.

Pyle was arrested and charged with theft. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and later released after posting a $2,500 bond.
