George Mabrey Arrested in MA for Fatal MS Crash

Faces 2 homicide charges from 2024 Hattiesburg crash

PALMER, Mass. (WDAM) — A man wanted in connection with a deadly car crash in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has been arrested over 1,000 miles away in Massachusetts.

Palmer Police took George Mabrey into custody during a routine traffic stop after discovering he had an active arrest warrant from Mississippi. Mabrey is now facing two counts of vehicular homicide/manslaughter linked to a fatal multi-vehicle crash that occurred on August 2, 2024, along I-59 in Hattiesburg.

The crash claimed the lives of 66-year-old Peggy Herron and 56-year-old Lisa Foster. Several others sustained injuries in the accident.

Massachusetts authorities are holding Mabrey without bail as he awaits extradition to Forrest County, Mississippi, to face charges.
