CAPE CORAL, FL — A Cape Coral man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for trafficking more than 400 grams of cocaine and attempting to flee law enforcement. The sentence was handed down following a major drug investigation known as Operation Block Party, led by NETFORCE, which aims to dismantle large-scale drug trafficking operations.

George Samuel Broughton, 49, was arrested in 2020. During the investigation, authorities discovered over $300,000 in cash inside a Lee County storage unit tied to Broughton, according to the Office of the State Attorney for Florida’s Twentieth Judicial Circuit.

In addition to his prison sentence, Broughton was ordered to pay $250,000 in fines and fees. The case was part of a broader crackdown, with 25 other individuals also prosecuted in connection with the operation.

Operation Block Party highlights ongoing efforts by Florida law enforcement to combat high-level drug distribution networks operating within the state.
