A man in Chesapeake has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after attempting to receive a large shipment of methamphetamine at his home.
According to court documents, on March 18, 2025, law enforcement officers intercepted a package containing 2,618 grams of methamphetamine that was addressed to a residence on Rystrom Run. After seizing the drugs, investigators replaced them with sham narcotics and carried out a controlled delivery.
Authorities said a child brought the delivered package inside the home. Shortly after, 64-year-old Geno Cassell Smith entered the residence and opened it.
Investigators then executed a search warrant at the home, where they recovered the sham narcotics along with a handgun and two magazines.
Officials noted that Smith had prior convictions for marijuana possession and distribution, as well as assault and battery on a family member. As a convicted felon, he was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition.
Smith was ultimately sentenced to 10 years in prison. The case was part of the nationwide enforcement effort known as Operation Take Back America.
