Gavin Adcock Arrested for DUI, Open Container in Tennessee

Country star’s arrest raises concerns over career future

by Amelia Crawford

Country music rising star and former college football player Gavin Adcock was arrested earlier this month in Wilson County, Tennessee for reckless driving and possession of an open alcohol container, according to reports. The incident occurred when the Tennessee Highway Patrol pulled over the 26-year-old on unspecified driving behavior that led to the charges.

Adcock, who has gained fame for his successful debut album Actin’ Up Again, which amassed over 350 million streams in 2024, had recently sold more than 100,000 tickets on his tour. However, the arrest may pose a setback to his momentum in the country music industry.

Court documents reveal Adcock was charged with reckless driving and having an open alcohol container in the vehicle. He posted a $1,500 bond and was released the next day.

This incident isn’t Adcock’s first encounter with alcohol-related controversy. In 2021, while playing football for Georgia Southern University, he was suspended after a video surfaced of him drinking beer on top of a moving bus before a game. In 2023, he also admitted on X (formerly Twitter) to a previous arrest over a suspended license.

“Went to jail one time because of a suspended license, sat in there for 10 hours and made friends with my cell mates,” he posted.

The country music scene has seen similar legal turbulence. Fellow star Morgan Wallen was charged with reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct in 2024 after allegedly throwing a chair off a rooftop, nearly hitting officers below. Wallen later pleaded guilty to reduced charges, agreeing to DUI school and probation.

These incidents bring renewed scrutiny to the personal conduct of country music artists, especially as they grow in public prominence.
