The Gauripur Police in Assam have arrested Gautam Ghosh in connection with the gruesome murder of Rahul Hussain, alias Ali, a Class 9 student from Geramari, Dhubri. Gautam Ghosh, son of the late Anil Ghosh and a resident of Ward No-6 (new), Gauripur, was presented before the district court on March 13, 2025.

The shocking murder came to light when Rahul’s lifeless body was discovered along National Highway 17 in the Targhat area on December 26, 2024. The gruesome discovery sparked outrage, with the victim’s family and the local community demanding swift justice.

Following the discovery, Rahul’s family filed an FIR at the Gauripur police station, accusing a group of miscreants of brutally killing their son and discarding his body. However, the family claims that they faced significant delays and a lack of action from the authorities, exacerbating their grief.

After months of investigation, the police finally arrested Gautam Ghosh in connection with the crime. Despite the arrest, the victim’s family remains unsatisfied, alleging that several other members of the crime gang are still at large and are believed to be protected by political influence and police backing.

The arrest has sparked new allegations of corruption and negligence within the local police force, with many questioning the integrity of the investigation. Local residents and the victim’s family are now questioning whether law enforcement agencies are truly committed to bringing justice or if vested interests are influencing the case’s outcome.
