Delhi Police have arrested two men, Gaurav and Himanshu, in connection with an illegal cricket betting racket operating in Vikaspuri. The raid was conducted at a flat in Janta Flats, Budhela Village, following discreet surveillance by the Special Staff West team.
The accused were found actively placing bets on an Australian Women’s Cricket League match using the app ‘Plus Project 2025’ on a laptop. Police seized two LEDs, six mobile phones, one laptop, and one recorder used for managing the betting operations.
An FIR has been registered at Vikaspuri Police Station under Sections 3, 4, 9, and 55 of the Delhi Public Gambling Act, and further investigation is underway to identify other possible participants.
This bust mirrors a similar operation conducted during the IPL 2025 season in April, when the Crime Branch of Delhi Police had arrested six individuals running an offline cricket betting racket out of Paharganj. In that case, electronic devices, personal phones, and notebooks used to record betting data were recovered. Bettors would place predictions over calls, with rates determined live during the matches.
Police said these operations highlight the growing trend of illegal cricket betting in Delhi, conducted both online through apps and offline via telephone and personal networks. Authorities continue to investigate potential links between the Vikaspuri and Paharganj syndicates.
