Former Mizzou Coach Gary Pinkel Arrested for DWI in Missouri

ST. LOUIS — Former University of Missouri football head coach Gary Pinkel was arrested late Monday night for driving while intoxicated (DWI) near Lake of the Ozarks, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Pinkel, 72, was taken into custody at approximately 11:46 p.m. in Camden County. He was booked into the Camden County Jail and later released. While the arrest has been confirmed, court records currently do not reflect any formal charges.

This marks the second time Pinkel has been arrested for DWI. His first arrest occurred in 2011 in Columbia, Missouri, while he was still coaching the Missouri Tigers.

Pinkel retired after the 2015 season following a diagnosis of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. During his tenure from 2001 to 2016, he led the Tigers to a 118-73 record and multiple conference titles.

Authorities have not released further details on Monday’s arrest.
