Gary Man Charged with First-Degree Murder in Fatal I-94 Shooting

INDIANA — Herman Yancey, a 37-year-old man from Gary, Indiana, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting that took place on June 7, 2024 on Interstate 94, near Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-94 near 37th Street. According to Illinois State Police, the victim, Tywuan Donald, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities have not released additional details about the shooting at this time as the investigation continues. However, Herman Yancey has been formally charged, and further developments are expected as the case progresses.
