OAKLAND, Md. — Garrett County Sheriff Bryson Meyers announced the arrest of four individuals on August 10 for controlled dangerous substance violations following a three-month investigation by local narcotics detectives.

Detectives with the Narcotics Task Force, Criminal Investigation Division, and patrol deputies stopped a vehicle on Lyndale Road in Oakland. Passenger Nicholas Alan DeWitt, 36, of Mountain Lake Park, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for distribution of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. A vehicle search revealed drug paraphernalia with fentanyl residue.

A search warrant executed at an apartment on A Street, Mountain Lake Park, led to the recovery of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia. Three other individuals were arrested and charged:

Tonya June McDaniel, 51, Oakland — possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine

Rikki Leandrea Bolyard, 33, Mountain Lake Park — possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine

Zackery Lee Schissler, 26, Mountain Lake Park — possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine

DeWitt also faced additional charges for fentanyl possession.

All suspects were taken to the Garrett County Detention Center pending bond hearings.

Sheriff Meyers praised the detectives’ efforts, stating, “Detectives will continue to work diligently to remove illegal drugs from the streets of Garrett County. These types of investigations are ongoing, and more arrests are forthcoming.”
