In a major development, Rajasthan Police on Thursday night arrested three suspects, including the main shooter, in connection with the murder of Rulaniya, a 42-year-old businessman who was shot dead inside a gym in Kuchaman city on October 7.
Superintendent of Police Richa Tomar (Didwana-Kuchaman) confirmed that the arrested individuals are Ganpat Gurjar, Dharmendra Gurjar, and Mahesh Gurjar.
“Ganpat entered the gym and shot Rulaniya dead, while Dharmendra waited outside in a vehicle. Mahesh was involved in planning and conspiracy,” said SP Tomar.
The arrests were made in Phoolbagan, Kolkata, after a coordinated operation between Rajasthan and West Bengal police. Another suspect, Juber Ahmad, remains absconding. The CID Crime Branch had earlier announced a Rs1 lakh reward for information leading to the arrest of each of the four fugitives.
After the murder, the accused fled to Madhya Pradesh, then moved through Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Jharkhand, eventually attempting to hide in Kolkata. Tomar stated that the police tracked their movements across states, maintaining constant surveillance until they were cornered.
The arrested trio is being transported back to Kuchaman for detailed interrogation.
Following Rulaniya’s murder, residents staged a two-day protest outside the Kuchaman police station, demanding swift justice. So far, police have detained seven people, including a minor, in connection with the case.
Virendra Charan, a known associate of fugitive gangster Rohit Godara, had publicly claimed responsibility for the killing. Police suspect the murder was orchestrated from abroad as part of an intimidation tactic aimed at extorting local businessmen.
SP Tomar added that the district police remain committed to cracking down on gang operations and dismantling local networks connected to organized crime.
