In a shocking incident, Keonjhar Town police arrested a couple, Gangi Munda (30) and Chhotu Munda (30), on Wednesday for allegedly murdering 70-year-old Birma Munda following a domestic dispute in Gamharia village’s Munda Sahi.
The crime occurred on Tuesday night, when the elderly woman was reportedly assaulted by her granddaughter and her husband. Police stated that the argument between the woman and the couple escalated suddenly, leading to her fatal injuries after being pushed. The situation came to light the following morning when villagers discovered Birma’s lifeless body and immediately informed the authorities.
Srikant Sahu, the Investigating Officer (IIC) at Keonjhar Town police station, confirmed that the police team, supported by experts from the district scientific laboratory (DSL), visited the crime scene to gather evidence. The post-mortem examination has been completed, and the body has been handed over to the family after completing the necessary legal formalities.
The case is still under investigation, and further developments are awaited.
