A gang of burglars involved in six theft cases under the Hyderabad, Rachakonda, and Cyberabad commissionerates was apprehended by the Langar Houz police on Friday, February 14. The three accused have been identified as Are Sai Adithya (19), Namili David Raj (18), and Maganti Sai Kumar (22).
The breakthrough came after a complaint was filed by Shekar Goud on January 15, reporting that his house in Langar Houz had been broken into while his family was away for the Sankranti holidays. The domestic help discovered that approximately 10 tolas of gold had been stolen.
After reviewing over 100 hours of CCTV footage covering areas from Langar Houz, Gachibowli, and Kukatpally, police identified fingerprint evidence linking the three suspects to the crime. The trio was arrested and confessed to their involvement in the thefts.
According to the police, before carrying out their crimes, the accused would consume alcohol to gain confidence. They targeted empty houses during holidays and would spend their loot on parties and entertainment. Afterward, they would steal valuables and disappear.
The gang was involved in six cases, including one under Langar Houz police station limits, one at Jubilee Hills, one in Chandanagar, one in Suraram, one at Nagole, and one in the Vanasthali region.
In total, over 12 tolas of gold were recovered, including 4.5 tolas of gold from the Langar Houz case and 8 tolas from the Chandanagar case. The police continue to investigate further links to other unreported crimes.
