In a tragic incident in Hiliyana village, Brahmavar taluk, Ganesh Poojary, a 42-year-old painter from Kolambe village, was arrested for killing his wife Rekha (27), who worked at a petrol pump. The couple, married for eight years with two children, reportedly fought frequently, mostly over Rekha’s use of her mobile phone.
Despite previous police counseling following Rekha’s complaint about the disputes, tensions escalated on the night of June 19. During a heated argument, Ganesh attacked Rekha with a machete, leading to her death on the spot. Ganesh initially fled but was later caught by the Shankaranarayana police. The case is under investigation.
