In a major crackdown on insurance fraud, Gurgaon police arrested three staff members of Galaxy One Hospital in New Palam Vihar for allegedly running a large-scale fake medical claims racket.
The accused — Sapna and Varsha, both local residents, and Gaurav from Rajasthan — were arrested on Wednesday after investigators uncovered forged lab reports, fabricated treatment bills, and ghost patient admissions used to siphon money from nearly 25 insurance companies.
Fake Admissions and Forged Records
According to ACP (West) Abhilaksh Joshi, the hospital generated fraudulent claims by showing patients admitted on paper without providing any actual treatment. Nearly 60% of the insurance claims submitted by the hospital were cleared, officials said.
Authorities seized 56 fake insurance files containing detailed records of patients who were never admitted. Investigators found that medical records, lab reports, pharmacy bills, and treatment charts were allegedly manufactured to justify payouts.
Police estimate the scam to be around Rs1 crore, with individual fraudulent claims ranging between Rs60,000 and Rs70,000. Officials noted similarities in handwriting across multiple patient documents, raising suspicions during the raid.
A follow-up search at a diagnostic facility in Dayanand Colony revealed it allegedly supplied fake reports used to support the claims.
Sections Invoked and Ongoing Probe
A case has been registered at Bajghera police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to cheating, forgery, and use of forged documents.
The investigation, initiated after irregularities were noticed during a preliminary raid in May 2025, is now focused on tracing the financial trail and identifying other conspirators, including fake patients and senior hospital management.
Police officials stated that further arrests may follow as the probe continues.
