Gainesville Teen Jeremiyah Leonard Arrested for Armed Robbery

by Amelia Crawford

A Gainesville teenager, Jeremiyah Eurell Leonard, 18, was arrested on Monday in connection with an alleged armed robbery and assault during an online sale meet-up that occurred on December 29.

According to the Gainesville Police Department, Leonard faces over 20 charges, including multiple counts of aggravated assault, armed robbery, and theft by taking. In addition, authorities suspect Leonard may be involved in a separate robbery that took place in January.

Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook explained that Leonard had arranged to meet the victim online to purchase vehicle parts. During the exchange, Leonard reportedly punched the victim in the face. The victim then pulled out a gun, but Leonard managed to seize the firearm and flee the scene.

In a separate incident in January, Leonard is believed to have committed a similar robbery, this time stealing money and a PlayStation 5.

Leonard was taken into custody and booked at the Hall County Jail, where he remains without bond as of Tuesday afternoon.
