The Basti Jodhewal police have successfully arrested a drug smuggler, Gagan Sharma, resident of Bawa Colony, and seized 130 grams of heroin from his possession.
According to Additional DCP Sameer Verma, Inspector Jasvir Singh of the Jodhewal police station led the operation. The police received a tip-off that the suspect was en route to deliver heroin to clients within the city. Acting swiftly on this information, a police party raided the location and apprehended Sharma along with the narcotics.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused.
During preliminary questioning, ADCP Verma revealed that Sharma has a criminal history involving more than 11 cases, including serious offenses such as murder, rape, theft, fraud, and assault.
The police are continuing their investigation to uncover more details about the drug network.
