Tokyo, June 23 (Jiji Press) — Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested Yoshitaka Suzuki, a 44-year-old manager at Fuji Television Network Inc., on Monday for alleged habitual illegal gambling on an online casino.

Suzuki, who manages planning in Fuji TV’s variety show division, is suspected of repeatedly gambling on Eldoah Casino, a foreign online casino site, using his smartphone from Japan between September 22, 2024, and May 13, 2025.

Investigators revealed that Suzuki admitted to the charges, stating he was introduced to online gambling by a senior colleague five years ago. Suzuki, from Tokyo’s Shinagawa Ward, believed his actions would remain undiscovered.

Despite giving false answers during Fuji TV’s internal inquiry into online gambling, Suzuki continued wagering, spending approximately 100 million yen on the site and incurring losses around 24 million yen, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Fuji TV issued a statement saying, “We take the case seriously. We will fully cooperate with the investigation and work to prevent a recurrence of such cases.”
