The Gluckstadt Police Department pulled over Porter’s vehicle on Interstate 55 near Exit 112 on March 7 and immediately detected the odor of marijuana. Upon searching the vehicle, officers uncovered nearly half a pound of fentanyl pills, a small amount of marijuana, and a Glock 9mm handgun.

Charges Filed Against Porter:
Porter was taken into custody and charged with:

Trafficking of a Controlled Substance (Suspected Fentanyl) While in Possession of a Firearm
Possession of Marijuana
Careless Driving
Failure to Wear a Seatbelt
He was processed at the Gluckstadt Police Department before being transferred to the Madison County Detention Facility, where he awaits his initial court appearance.

Under Mississippi law, fentanyl trafficking convictions carry mandatory prison sentences ranging from 10 to 40 years, along with fines of up to $1 million.
