Frederick Burkfield Arrested for Identity Theft in Decatur

Suspect Charged with Credit Card Fraud and Identity Theft

DECATUR, Ala. — The Decatur Police Department (DPD) arrested a man for identity theft and fraudulent credit card use following an investigation into multiple reports of stolen cards and unauthorized transactions.

Authorities identified Frederick Levon Burkfield as the primary suspect after victims reported fraudulent activity in July and August at various businesses.

On August 24, Burkfield was arrested in Huntsville and transported to Decatur, where he was formally charged with:

Three counts of identity theft
Seven counts of fraudulent use of a credit or debit card
He was booked into the Morgan County Jail with a $40,000 bond.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities urge anyone who may have been affected by similar fraud to contact law enforcement.
