Deputies and investigators with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office conducted a license-checking station at the intersection of Mary Tate Road and Potters Hill Road on Friday, March 7, around 10:00 p.m. The operation led to multiple arrests.
Freddie James Houston Arrested After Avoiding Checkpoint
Authorities say Freddie James Houston attempted to evade the checkpoint but was stopped by deputies. Following their investigation, he was arrested and charged with:
Possession of Methamphetamine
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Unsealed Wine/Liquor in Passenger Area
Driving While License Revoked for an Impaired Revocation
Driving/Allowing a Motor Vehicle with No Registration
No Liability Insurance
Houston was issued a $5,000 secured bond and transported to the Jones County Detention Center.
Aimee King and Kristopher Heath Arrested After Vehicle Search
Another driver, Aimee Strawn King, approached the checkpoint, where deputies developed probable cause to search her vehicle.
Both King and her passenger, Kristopher Parker Heath, initially refused to exit the vehicle, prompting deputies to request a K9 Officer from the Kinston Police Department. Eventually, officers removed both individuals from the vehicle and discovered drug paraphernalia inside.
King was arrested and charged with:
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Driving While License Revoked
She was taken to the Jones County Detention Center and received a $5,000 bond.
Heath was charged with:
Aiding and Abetting Driving While License Revoked
Since Heath was already out on a release order for prior charges, he was held without bond at the Jones County Detention Center.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
