BATON ROUGE, LA — Detectives in Baton Rouge have arrested Frankie New, a 52-year-old man, in connection with the robbery of the Hancock Whitney Bank located on Government Street on December 26, 2024.
According to an arrest warrant, New entered the bank, threatened a bank employee, and demanded $1,200. However, the bank teller handed over only $300, and New fled the scene with the cash.
After the robbery, the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) received valuable Crime Stoppers tips, leading to the issuance of a warrant for New’s arrest. Authorities tracked him down and arrested him in Pointe Coupee Parish. He was then transported back to Baton Rouge and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of first-degree robbery.
Police noted that New has an extensive criminal history. He has previously pleaded guilty to charges of armed robbery, first-degree robbery, and burglary of an inhabited dwelling.
