Frank Wesley Davies IV Murder Investigation in Talladega

Joshua Bettis Charged After Mountain Brook Resident’s Death

by Sophia Bennett

The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of 31-year-old Frank Wesley Davies IV, a Mountain Brook resident, whose body was found on Nov. 15. Davies was discovered inside a home on family-owned property off Odena Road near Sylacauga.

Authorities arrested 36-year-old Joshua Thomas Bettis of Childersburg on Nov. 21, charging him with murder in connection to Davies’ death. Bettis is being held at the Talladega County Jail.

Davies had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was found after the mother of his child reported that she had not heard from him for several days.

Investigators conducted searches along Tallaseehatchee Creek on Friday, using dive teams to locate evidence they believe is linked to the murder. Efforts concentrated on the area beneath the bridge on Desoto Caverns Parkway.

The sheriff’s office has not shared details regarding the relationship between Davies and Bettis, nor have they specified what evidence they hope to find in the creek. The investigation is ongoing, with updates expected as more information becomes available.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office.
