HAMDEN — A Hamden man is facing multiple felony charges after a car crash in New Britain led Connecticut State Police to uncover a drug operation at his home.
Frank Mitchell, 30, was charged with operating a drug factory, possession of a controlled substance, intent to distribute hallucinogens, and illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine, among other offenses.
The investigation began Wednesday afternoon when state troopers responded to a three-car accident on Route 9 North involving two rollovers. Mitchell, who was identified as the driver at fault, was uninjured. Another driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.
At the scene, troopers discovered controlled substances, packaging materials, and drug paraphernalia in Mitchell’s possession. He later admitted to producing mushroom-infused chocolate bars and gummies, police said.
Mitchell was arrested at the scene without incident and taken to Troop H for processing. A search warrant was then executed at his Hamden residence, where authorities found additional narcotics, drug equipment, and a large-capacity magazine.
He is currently being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Friday.
