Kundapur police have taken four inter-state theft suspects into custody following coordinated efforts with Haliyal police in Uttara Kannada district. The accused, identified as Lakhan Kulkarni (31), Sandeep Lavate (25), Vivek Kumbar (26), and Aziz alias Chote (28), are residents of Solapur, Maharashtra, and are now under investigation for multiple burglary cases.
On July 19, the suspects allegedly broke into a residence on BB Road, West Block, Kundapur, stealing gold ornaments and valuables worth several lakhs of rupees. They also targeted another home belonging to P Ravindra, where gold and silver ornaments valued at Rs 4.57 lakh were stolen.
Further inquiry revealed their involvement in a theft case within the jurisdiction of Haliyal police station. After their arrest, the suspects admitted their roles in the Kundapur burglaries. The police secured their custody and presented them in court, which has since remanded them to judicial custody.
Police records indicate that Lakhan, also known as Sachin, has 28 cases filed against him across Karnataka, Maharashtra, and other states, with three prior convictions. Aziz faces two cases in Karnataka and multiple cases in Maharashtra, while Sandeep is booked for robbery and theft in Maharashtra.
