Four Drug Peddlers Arrested in Srinagar and Budgam, Contraband Recovered

Police seize cannabis, arrest four suspects in separate incidents.

In a significant operation, the police in Srinagar and Budgam arrested four individuals involved in drug peddling and recovered substantial quantities of contraband. The arrests were made during separate checkpoints on Sunday.

At Noorbagh Chowk in Srinagar, police intercepted a vehicle with three occupants. The individuals were identified as Ahmad Bin Ishaq Kawa (Nawakadal), Daniyal Ahmad Basati (Palpora Noorbagh), and Taha Yasir (Aalikadal Srinagar). Upon searching the vehicle, officers seized 184 grams of cannabis. All three suspects were taken into custody, and the vehicle was confiscated.

In a separate incident in Budgam, police set up a checkpoint at Aripanthan where they arrested Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie (Saranhal Batpora, Budgam). Ganie was found in possession of three sticks wrapped in corn husk, containing around 61 grams of a cannabis-like substance.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations, and investigations are ongoing, police officials confirmed.
