LONG GROVE, Ill. — Four Chicago-area men were arrested on Wednesday after their involvement in a residential burglary in Long Grove, part of an ongoing investigation into a burglary crew believed to be targeting homes in the Asian community across the northwest suburbs.
The arrests were made by a team from the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF), which had been surveilling a Range Rover linked to the suspects. The vehicle, driven by David C. Gomez Galindo (40) from Cicero, entered Lake County and stopped near a home on Hilltop Road in Long Grove at around 3:30 p.m. Two passengers got out of the Range Rover, allegedly breaking into the home. A second vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz driven by Daniel F. Ospina Lozano (26), also from Cicero, acted as a lookout vehicle.
After the burglary, the two suspects returned to the Range Rover, but law enforcement quickly intervened. Deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office used a spike strip to deflate the tires of the Mercedes, arresting Ospina Lozano. The Range Rover was eventually stopped, and Gomez Galindo, along with two other suspects, Haral S. Canter-Rocha (26) and Brian E. Navarrete-Caballero (31), both from Chicago, were taken into custody.
All four men have been charged with residential burglary, a Class 1 felony, and are currently in custody. Authorities believe the suspects are part of a larger burglary operation targeting homes within the Asian community, with additional charges potentially forthcoming.
Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg praised the collaborative efforts between NORTAF and the Criminal Investigations Division, emphasizing the importance of working together to solve ongoing issues with burglary crews in the suburbs.
“This is a great example of what we can accomplish when law enforcement agencies work together,” Idleburg said. “I’m grateful for the collaboration between NORTAF and our team.”
All four suspects appeared in court on Thursday, where they were ordered held in custody pending a Detention Court hearing. The investigation remains ongoing.
