Four persons were arrested after police intercepted a luxury car near Kilimanoor junction in Thiruvananthapuram district and recovered synthetic drug MDMA from their possession on Sunday.
The arrested accused have been identified as Aneesh (30), Vivek (31), Muhammad Shahin (23), and Siyad (36), all residents of the Thonnakkal area near Manjammal in rural Kilimanoor. Police seized approximately 10.5 grams of MDMA during the operation.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs that narcotics peddlers were heading towards the Kilimanoor area, officers from the Rural District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) and Kilimanoor police conducted a vehicle check at the busy junction. The suspects were detained after the drugs were found during inspection.
The joint operation was led by senior narcotics officials, including DSP K Pradeep and Attingal DSP Manjulal S, along with Kilimanoor Inspector B Jayan and Sub-Inspector Arun. The DANSAF team was supported by sub-inspectors F Fayas, B Dileep, and Rajeevan, with team members Riyas, Dinor, Nandu, and Liju assisting in the field operation.
The accused were produced before a judicial magistrate and have been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days, police said.
