Sharpshooters held; dispute over fisheries cited as motive

Bhangar, West Bengal — Police have arrested three more suspects in connection with the murder of Trinamool Congress (TMC) functionary Razzak Khan, bringing the total arrests to four. The new detainees—Azharuddin Molla (25), Jahan Ali Khan (50), and Raju Molla (26)—are alleged sharpshooters who carried out the killing under the direction of Mofazzel Molla, a TMC committee member in the Bhangar assembly constituency.

The arrests were confirmed by Rupesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime & Traffic). Mozaffel Molla had already been arrested on Sunday based on CCTV footage and circumstantial evidence.

Razzak Khan was shot dead late Thursday night while returning from a party meeting. Police sources suggest the murder resulted from disputes involving revenue sharing from local fisheries (bheries) and market control in the area.

Lalbazar police have stated the investigation is ongoing and have not ruled out further arrests.
