Srinagar Police have arrested four individuals involved in the sexual assault and murder of a woman in the Nishat area of Srinagar. According to a police spokesperson, the incident occurred near Water Works Road in Nishat, where a group of men attempted to sexually assault the woman, resulting in severe injuries. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
Upon receiving the distressing information, the Srinagar Police acted quickly, and a case was registered under FIR No. 35/2025 at Police Station Nishat. The investigation began immediately, leading to the swift arrest of the four suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Suhail Bashir Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad, from Asham Sumbal.
Adil Ali Bhat, son of Ali Mohammad, from Zeethyar Nishat.
Firdous Ahmad Rather, son of Ghulam Ahmad, from Zeethyar Nishat.
Suhail Afzal Bhat, son of Mohammad Afzal, from Pahloo Brein.
All four were apprehended during a rapid and decisive operation. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities remain committed to ensuring justice for the victim.
The body of the victim has been handed over to her relatives, and it was taken to Ganderbal for the last rites. Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral, and the woman’s family has demanded exemplary punishment for those responsible for this brutal act.
