In a breakthrough development, police on Saturday arrested all four accused involved in the murder of Sanjay Bhagat, the husband of the former mukhiya of Gangapur, and recovered two firearms, 48 live cartridges, and liquor from their possession.
Uda-Kishunganj SDPO Abhinash Kumar confirmed that the accused were absconding since the April 23 murder of Bhagat at Sonamukhi village, under Ratwara police station in Madhepura district.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Dharmendra Kumar
Sonu alias Monu
Dhananjay
Praphulla Patel
According to police, a special team was formed under the directive of Madhepura SP Sandeep Singh to apprehend the accused. Acting on a tip-off, the police first arrested Dharmendra Kumar. During his interrogation, he revealed the identities and locations of his accomplices.
Following this, police raided Lutna village and arrested Sonu (Monu), Dhananjay, and Praphulla Patel.
Police sources stated that Praphulla Patel had been evading arrest for a long time and is wanted in multiple criminal cases. Authorities are now verifying the criminal histories of all four suspects.
Further investigation is ongoing.
