A gang of three reportedly stole a folder containing gold chains worth around Rs40 lakh from a jewellery shop in Bandra East under the pretext of buying gold. Within twelve hours, the Nirmal Nagar Police cracked the case and arrested four people, including a woman.
The accused have been identified as Shravan Navik, Sonali Yadav, Fazil Parmar, and Aman Sheikh, while the woman’s name has not been disclosed. Police recovered gold jewellery worth Rs32 lakh and stated that the remaining items are expected to be recovered soon.
According to the police, the complainant, Kamlesh Chaplot (33), owns the Bandra East jewellery shop. On Sunday around 9 a.m., two individuals, including a woman, entered his store to inspect jewellery. Shortly after, a young man joined them. While Chaplot brought water for the woman and showed her chains, the young man allegedly snatched a folder containing 25 gold chains worth Rs40 lakh and fled on a bike.
Chaplot pursued the suspect with the help of local residents but could not catch him. Meanwhile, the woman and her accomplice inside the shop also escaped.
After lodging a complaint, the police used CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding areas to track the accused. Investigations revealed that Aman Sheikh had assisted in planning the theft. He was taken into custody and confessed, leading to the recovery of over 18 gold chains weighing 15–20 grams each, worth Rs32 lakh. The police continue efforts to recover the remaining jewellery and apprehend any other accomplices.
