Four Arrested in Postville for Forgery and Identity Theft

Authorities Seize Fraudulent Documents in Postville Search Operation

Four individuals were arrested in Postville, Iowa, on March 1, 2025, following a search operation conducted by the Postville Police Department, with assistance from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office. The operation was part of an ongoing investigation into forgery and identity theft.

The search warrant was executed at 216 Oak Drive just after 5:00 p.m. During the operation, authorities seized multiple fraudulent documents, leading to the arrests of four adults.

Vilma Jor Canahui, a Postville resident, was charged with identity theft. Carlos Cruz Marroquin, also of Postville, faces charges of forgery and possession of a fictitious license or ID card. Wilmer Marroquin Morales, another Postville resident, has been charged with forgery and possession of a fictitious license or ID card. Melvin Veliz Pacheco, also from Postville, faces charges of forgery and interference with official acts.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have indicated that further charges may be forthcoming as they continue to uncover more information.
