Four Arrested in Murder of TMC Functionary Razzak Khan in Bhangar

Sharpshooters Arrested, Motive Linked to Fisheries Dispute

by Ananya Mehta

Three more people were arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of Trinamool Congress (TMC) functionary Razzak Khan in Bhangar, taking the total number of arrests to four. The trio—Azharuddin Molla (25), Jahan Ali Khan (50), and Raju Molla (26)—are sharpshooters allegedly carrying out the killing on instructions from Mofazzel Molla, a local TMC committee member.

The arrests were announced by Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime & Traffic), Rupesh Kumar. Earlier, Mofazzel Molla was apprehended based on CCTV footage and circumstantial evidence.

Khan was fatally shot late Thursday night while returning from a party meeting. Police sources said the murder likely arose from disputes over revenue sharing from local fisheries (bheries) and control of the market in the region.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests.
