In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Tripura’s Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested four individuals and seized a substantial quantity of contraband during two separate raids at Agartala Railway Station. The law enforcement team recovered 4.15 kg of cannabis and 200 bottles of banned cough syrup, with an estimated street value of over Rs128,000.

Tapas Das, GRP Station Officer-in-Charge, confirmed the arrests and the initiation of legal proceedings, stating, “We have registered cases against all four accused and forwarded them to court, requesting judicial custody.”

The first operation focused on three suspects—Puja Devi, Reshmi Kumari, and Palvesh Kumar Singh—who are suspected of frequently transporting cannabis from Tripura to Bihar. During the raid, police seized 4.15 kg of ganja, valued at around ₹48,000.

In a parallel operation, authorities apprehended Sani Kumar, who was found with 200 bottles of prohibited Eskuf cough syrup, valued at Rs80,000.

Local law enforcement has noted a growing trend of individuals from Bihar being involved in regional narcotics smuggling, indicating a potential organized trafficking network. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to disrupt drug distribution channels and prevent further illegal narcotic transportation.
