On Friday, Jaipur city police successfully busted a fraudulent call centre operating under the guise of offering E-Mitra IDs. The operation took place in the Shipra Path area of Mansarovar, leading to the arrest of four suspects involved in a large-scale cyber fraud that duped nearly 500 victims over the past six months, amassing a total of Rs 15 lakh.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Deepak (23), Sanjay Meghwal (22), Nandveer Saini (22), and Vinod Bairwa (23). According to DCP (South) Digant Anand, the police seized Rs 78,000, along with 13 computers, 9 mobile phones, a laptop, Wi-Fi devices, a biometric fingerprint machine, and other items during the raid.

The fake call centre offered E-Mitra IDs, luring victims with promises of profits and cashback. They charged registration fees ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000, providing minimal services to gain trust before disappearing with the funds. After receiving payments, the fraudsters blocked the victims’ numbers and shifted to new contact details to continue their scam.
