by Ananya Mehta

Rajendra Nagar police arrested four individuals involved in four high-profile burglary cases, recovering stolen goods worth approximately Rs 75 lakh on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vinod Meena said the arrests came after an investigation into burglaries reported between April 29 and May 6 across various residences in Shivalay Bijalpur, Haidari Park Colony, and Nihalpuri Mundi.

Among those arrested, Ishaq (45) has five prior theft cases registered at Rajendra Nagar police station and had been absconding for three years in a robbery case registered at Badnagar police station, Ujjain. Shailendra Solanki (45), a Lasudia resident, faces four cases registered in Rajendra Nagar, Indore, and Dewas. Vikas alias Bunty Meena (31) has 14 cases of theft, housebreaking, and robbery across multiple districts including Rajendra Nagar, Sehore, Sujalpur, Bhopal, Shajapur, and Vidisha. Sanjay alias Hydra Malviya (23) has five cases in Dewas and Rajendra Nagar.

Recovered items include approximately 200 grams of gold and five kilograms of silver jewelry, seven luxury watches (including two high-value brands), and over five kilograms of antique coins and heirlooms estimated to be 75-80 years old. Police also seized Rs 3.13 lakh in cash, a stolen motorcycle, an SUV, and burglary tools such as cutters, pliers, hooks, and screwdrivers.

DCP Meena said the suspects used informants and technical surveillance to track their movements. They conducted reconnaissance to identify unoccupied houses, then used methods like scaling pipes, breaking skylights, or forcing door locks for entry. The gang avoided mobile phone use during crimes to evade tracking and fled to other states after selling stolen items. They planned burglaries by selecting times based on area specifics to execute well-organized thefts.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rubina Mizwani stated that intelligence indicated the suspects were attempting to sell stolen goods from an unregistered white SUV in Indore. Police intercepted the vehicle near Kundan Nagar Main Road, leading to a five-kilometer chase before the suspects were apprehended. Interrogation resulted in full recovery of the stolen goods.

The accused are in custody and will be presented before court on Saturday.
