Nakkapalli police in Anakapalli district seized 840 kilograms of ganja valued at Rs 42 lakh and arrested four persons linked to the case. Anakapalli Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha informed the media on Wednesday that, following reliable information, Nakkapalli Inspector K Kumara Swamy, Sub Inspector K Sunni Babu, and their team conducted vehicle checks at Vedullapalem junction. During the inspection, the team intercepted a four-wheeler and two-wheelers transporting packed ganja, which were seized along with the vehicles.
The accused arrested in connection with the case were identified as Y Ramana, K Diwakar, P Arjuna Rao, and V Suresh. SP Tuhin Sinha revealed that the cannabis was procured near the Janaba area in Odisha and packed into 20 bags. The accused were reportedly unloading and reloading the stock near check posts to evade detection. The consignment was destined for Karnataka.
Special teams have been formed to track and apprehend other suspects involved in the racket. SP Tuhin Sinha congratulated the police team, awarding them certificates of appreciation and cash rewards for their effective operation. Additional officers present included Additional SPs M Devaprasad, L Mohan Rao, and Anakapalli sub-division DSP P Srinivasa Rao.
