BALTIMORE — Four men were arrested and charged in connection with a south Baltimore homicide that occurred in January 2024, the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) announced Wednesday.
Terrill Barfield, 37, James Hammond, 40, Lakeem Whitaker, 26, and Jarvis Joyner, 32, were taken into custody for their alleged roles in the killing of 36-year-old Deon Beasley.
All four suspects are being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility. Barfield, Hammond, and Whitaker face charges of 1st- and 2nd-degree murder, while Joyner is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and multiple handgun violations.
On Jan. 12, 2024, at approximately 4:13 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Washington Boulevard following a shot-spotter alert. Beasley was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.
After the shooting, BPD reported that officers and Foxtrot pursued a fleeing vehicle, which ultimately collided with a police vehicle and a guardrail. Details of what transpired after the crash remain unclear.
Authorities continue to investigate the case.
