Four Arrested for Stealing Copper Pipes from Marshalltown Hospital

Suspects caught after burglary at old hospital site

Marshalltown, IA – Four men from Des Moines were arrested early Friday morning after allegedly stealing copper pipes from an old hospital building in Marshalltown.

Officers responded to a trespassing call at the vacant hospital site located on South 4th Avenue just before 5 a.m. Upon arriving, police determined that a burglary and theft had occurred at the property. The suspects were found in a vehicle near East Madison Street and South Center Street, and stolen property from the hospital was discovered on them.

After further investigation, authorities revealed the men had been in the process of stealing copper pipes before their arrest. The suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail.

Burglary 3rd Degree
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Possession of Burglar Tools
Aung Yo Trae, 31, charged with:

Burglary 3rd Degree
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Possession of Burglar Tools
The investigation is ongoing.
