Four individuals were arrested by Hyderabad police on Wednesday, March 26, for allegedly being involved in a series of gold chain thefts across the city. The arrested suspects have been identified as Kamble Srinu (32), Md Mahboob (36), Vemula Srinu (45), and Kamble Vikas (22). Three other suspects, however, remain at large.
The investigation began after Boddupalli Pradeep Kumar, a municipal employee, filed a complaint on March 19 at the Afzalgunj police station. Kumar reported that his gold chain and locket were stolen while he was traveling on a TGSRTC bus from Mallapur to MGBS on March 1.
Following the complaint, the police launched an extensive investigation and soon tracked down the accused. During questioning, the suspects confessed to being involved in seven different cases of pickpocketing across various locations, including Lalaguda, Narayanaguda, Afzalgunj, and Sultan Bazaar.
The Hyderabad police were able to recover 2.5 tulas of stolen gold chains from the accused. A case has been registered, and authorities are continuing their investigation as they search for the remaining suspects involved in the thefts.
