Kantamal Police in Boudh swiftly solved the murder of Kaibalya Pradhan and arrested four accused within 24 hours of the crime.
The incident occurred on December 7, when villagers found Pradhan’s mutilated body on the Jogindrapur–Damamunda road. His family identified him as a resident of Damamunda village.
Police responded immediately, deploying sniffer dogs and a scientific team to investigate. Within hours, officers tracked down the suspects and seized weapons, a bike, clothing, and mobile phones used in the killing.
The accused are: Umesh Salma (24) of Damamunda, Ajit Bag (21) of Kalasulia, Radhakant Bhoi (24) of Damamunda, and Ramakant Salma of Damamunda. During interrogation, they admitted to attacking Pradhan with stones, citing previous enmity as the motive.
Officials added that the accused attempted to destroy evidence, but police recovered crucial items within 12 hours. A scene recreation was conducted in the presence of Boudh SDPO Loren Raut Ray and Kantamal police station officer Sasmita Magar.
Boudh SP Rahul Goyal confirmed in a press briefing that all accused have been produced in court, and investigations are ongoing to ensure all aspects of the case are documented.
