In a breakthrough in a series of highway robberies along NH-415 in the Itanagar Capital Region, police arrested four suspects on Saturday. The accused have been linked to multiple robbery incidents that occurred since January this year, particularly near Karsingsa.
The robbers, riding on two-wheelers, would chase victims and stop them under the pretext of checking Inner Line Permits and other illegal substances. Once the victims were stopped, they were robbed at knife-point, with the assailants brandishing daggers to intimidate them and steal their belongings.
Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo confirmed the arrest of the four individuals and stated that two FIRs had been registered at the Banderdewa Police Station under relevant sections of the law. The police team, led by Sub-Inspector Koj Tada and supervised by Naharlagun SDPO Rishi Longdo, had been investigating the robberies for several months.
The arrested individuals were identified as:
Patey Bagang (19)
Tadar Rar (24)
Ngurang Tako (23)
Tabia Kapa (27)
The police have now confirmed the suspects’ involvement in the highway robberies and continue to gather more information to prevent further crimes in the region.
