LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — Pvt. Ryder Scott, an infantryman with the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, was arrested last week by the Las Cruces Police Department on multiple charges related to a domestic violence incident.

Fort Bliss confirmed the arrest on Monday, stating Scott was taken into custody on September 6. The 1st Armored Division is cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.

Scott faces charges including interference with communications, aggravated battery against a household member, and false imprisonment.

According to court records, on September 5 at around 9:39 p.m., officers responded to a residence following a 911 hang-up call. Upon arrival, officers heard a female yelling and a male claiming he was jogging and had called by mistake.

Police found Scott outside the residence and the female victim inside. Scott was detained.

The victim’s grandmother reported hearing faint screams and saw Scott holding the woman down inside a vehicle. She also witnessed Scott grabbing the woman as she tried to run toward the house.

The victim sustained an abrasion on her cheek, which aligned with her account that during a struggle in the vehicle, Scott grabbed the steering wheel to control the car’s direction, prompting her to call 911. Scott then took the phone, told dispatch it was a mistake, exited the vehicle, and fled. The victim chased after him but returned to the car, where Scott reached inside and caused her to slam the door on his hand.

During the ensuing struggle, Scott admitted to putting his hand over the victim’s mouth and nose to prevent her from screaming.
