Molly Colleen Spears, a former teacher at Barbers Hill High School in Chambers County, Texas, was arrested again on February 27, 2025, facing new charges of sexual assault of a child. This follows earlier charges related to an improper relationship with a student.
Spears, 2024, was indicted by a grand jury on February 8 for the improper relationship charge. A warrant for her arrest was issued four days later, but she wasn’t taken into custody until she self-surrendered to the Chambers County Jail on February 11, 2025.
After posting a $50,000 bond on the initial charge, Spears was released. However, following the new charges, her bond has been set at $200,000. These charges stem from allegations that Spears engaged in sexual contact and intercourse with a male student during her tenure as a teacher at Barbers Hill High School. Court records show she used text messages and a commercial online service to solicit the student.
The allegations against Spears came to light in June 2023, when Barbers Hill ISD issued a statement acknowledging an investigation into her conduct, though details were not initially released. Spears had been a language arts teacher at the high school.
Spears’ defense attorney, Christopher L. Tritico, previously stated that his client was informed of the charges and acted swiftly to address them. In response to the new charges, Tritico has yet to comment, but the investigation continues.
Texas Education Agency records indicate that Spears is under investigation for misconduct, but no formal determination has been made regarding the case.
