COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Authorities are seeking additional victims after the arrest of a former elementary school teacher in a child sexual assault investigation.
The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) announced the arrest of 66-year-old Matthew Gogan on June 12, following a months-long investigation by its Crimes Against Children Unit.
The investigation began in April, when a victim came forward with allegations of a sexual assault that occurred five years ago. During the inquiry, detectives identified a second victim who had previously reported inappropriate behavior by Gogan.
Gogan, who was employed as a teacher at Stratton Meadows Elementary School from August 2018 to May 2020, now faces two counts of Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust.
According to Harrison School District 2, Gogan is no longer employed by the district.
Detectives believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
