EVANSVILLE, IND. – Jennifer L. Tinsley, a former employee of the Posey County Solid Waste Department, has been arrested for allegedly stealing over $25,000 from the county.
According to the Posey County Prosecutor’s Office, an investigation conducted by the Indiana State Police and the Indiana State Board of Accounts uncovered that Tinsley had embezzled $21,274.52 in unauthorized checks and $4,550.50 in fraudulent payroll checks, totaling $25,852.02.
The theft occurred between April 2023 and February 2024, when Tinsley is accused of forging vendor and payroll checks to herself. During an interview with investigators, Tinsley admitted to the theft, acknowledging that she wrote the fraudulent checks.
Tinsley faces charges of Forgery and two counts of Theft. If convicted, she could face between six months and two and a half years in prison, along with a potential fine of up to $10,000 under Indiana law.
