Former Pearson Police Chief Tanner Farmer Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

Tanner Farmer, former police chief of Pearson and Waycross resident, was arrested Wednesday morning following an apparent domestic dispute. He was booked into Ware County Jail and faces charges including felony aggravated assault (family violence), misdemeanor battery (family violence first offense), and misdemeanor cruelty to children in the 3rd degree.

Farmer was released on a $10,000 bond. The details of the incident have not been disclosed publicly.

Farmer gained attention earlier this year when he abruptly resigned as Pearson police chief and falsely claimed the entire department had also resigned. He was also a candidate for the District 4 Waycross city commission seat but appears to have suspended his campaign following this arrest.
