NORWALK, Conn. – Former Norwalk city official Ellen Wink has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the 2022 murder of her tenant, Kurt Lametta, following a Stamford jury’s rejection of her self-defense and emotional disturbance claims.
On September 5, 2025, Judge John F. Blawie handed down the sentence after a Superior Court jury convicted Wink, 65, of murder and criminal lockout on June 20, 2025. Prosecutors said the fatal shooting occurred after a long-standing dispute between Wink and Lametta, 54, at her Norwalk residence on January 20, 2022.
A key piece of evidence in the trial was a cell phone recording made by Lametta during the deadly argument. The recording captured the final moments of the confrontation and was instrumental in convincing jurors of Wink’s intent.
Wink previously served as Norwalk’s deputy Republican registrar of voters. She was terminated from her position shortly after the shooting took place.
The case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Michelle Manning and Assistant State’s Attorney Margaret Moscati from the Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District.
With the 50-year sentence, Wink will likely spend the rest of her life behind bars. The case drew public attention both for the high-profile nature of the defendant and the disturbing details revealed during trial.
