Robin Lowe, a former Honor Society advisor at Itawamba Community College (ICC), has been sentenced after pleading guilty to embezzling funds intended for the college’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society.
On November 13, 2024, Mississippi State Auditor Shad White announced that Lowe had been convicted of one count of embezzlement. The court sentenced Lowe to one year of house arrest and a fine of $1,511.
Lowe, who served as the PTK Honor Society advisor at ICC from 2008 to 2023, was found to have misappropriated funds that had been designated for the benefit of the Phi Theta Kappa chapter. The funds were intended to support activities and events for honor society members, but Lowe used them for personal expenses instead.
Her arrest, which was made public in February 2024, followed an investigation by the auditor’s office. As a result of the guilty plea, Lowe will serve her sentence at home, with oversight, and must also pay restitution for the stolen funds.
This case highlights the consequences of embezzlement within educational institutions, where funds meant to benefit students are diverted for personal gain.
